A form-focused strength training class set to high energy music. Dumbbells, bands, controlled reps, and zero rushing. Build strength and confidence with the beat.
Form-focused is the operative phrase. Every exercise gets set up before anyone picks up a weight — where your feet go, what your ribs are doing, which muscle is meant to be working. Reps are deliberate and controlled, and there is no round where the goal is to get through as many as possible before a timer goes. Doing eight properly beats twenty badly, and this class is built around that.
The music sets the pace instead of a clock. Tempo tells you how fast to lower and how fast to lift, which sounds like a small thing and turns out to be the difference between swinging a dumbbell and actually loading a muscle. It also means the whole room is moving together, which makes an hour of strength work feel far less like a chore.
A session covers the full body across the week — pushing, pulling, hinging, squatting and real core work, using dumbbells, resistance bands and your own bodyweight. Loads are entirely yours to choose, and going up in weight is encouraged whenever a set stops feeling like much.
This is a good class if the gym floor has ever felt like somewhere you needed to already know what you were doing. Nothing here assumes prior experience, every exercise is demonstrated and cued from the front, and the confidence is the point as much as the strength is. People who start here often end up lifting heavier than they ever expected to.
Strength work also makes everything else on the schedule better. Stronger glutes and a stronger core show up immediately in how you land in the dance classes and how long you last at the barre, which is why so many people who came in for the dancing end up here once a week as well.
Bring water, a towel, a mat for floor work and shoes with a flat, stable sole. Studio weights and bands are there if you need them.
