Jazz Fusion
Classic jazz technique with a funky, stylish twist. High-energy combos that build strength, coordination and a proper sense of rhythm.
- All Levels
- Moderate Intensity
This jazz-inspired class brings fun, high-energy choreography rooted in classic jazz technique and sprinkled with funky, stylish movement. You’ll build strength, improve coordination, and tap into your natural rhythm as you flow through dynamic, full-body combos.
Jazz Fusion sits somewhere between a dance class and a workout, and it does not apologise for either half. The technique is real — isolations, kicks, turns, proper lines, weight shifts that have to be precise or the move does not work. The fusion part is everything layered on top: funk, commercial styling, whatever the music is asking for that week.
A class opens with a warm-up that doubles as technique work, moves into travelling sequences across the floor, and builds toward a combination that comes together by the end of the hour. Combinations run over several weeks, so you get the satisfaction of a routine actually clicking rather than starting from nothing every time.
The strength gains sneak up on you. Holding a line, controlling a turn and landing softly all demand more from your core, glutes and ankles than they look like they do from the outside. Coordination improves fast too, because you are constantly asking your arms and legs to do different things at once and your brain adapts quicker than you would guess.
You do not need a dance background, though people who danced as kids tend to fall straight back into it. Everything is broken down, and there is no expectation of picking up a phrase first time.
This is one of the classes people come to when they want dance to feel like dance again rather than like cardio with a soundtrack. If that is what you are after and you are starting from nothing, Choreo & Confidence is the gentler way in and the two run well side by side.
Wear something you can see your lines in — the instructor cues off your alignment and so will you, once you start watching for it. Bring jazz shoes if you own them or come barefoot if you don’t, and bring water.
