Burlesque
An empowering, beginner-friendly burlesque class built to make you feel strong and comfortable in your own skin. No dance experience required.
- Beginner Friendly
- Moderate Intensity
Step into your confidence with this empowering, burlesque-inspired dance class designed to make you feel strong, sexy, and comfortable in your own skin. Featuring a ballet/dance-based warm-up and beginner-friendly choreography broken down step-by-step, this class incorporates hip movement, isolations, turns, and optional floorwork — all set to music that makes you want to move. No dance experience required, just bring your confidence and have fun.
The warm-up is genuinely dance-based, borrowing from ballet to get your hips, spine and shoulders moving properly before anything else happens. It matters more here than in most classes, because burlesque lives in exactly those joints — the isolations and rolls that make the movement look effortless need a body that has actually been opened up first.
Choreography is taught in small, repeatable pieces with nothing assumed. Every step is broken down, shown from multiple angles and repeated as many times as the room needs. Floorwork is offered rather than required, and there is a standing version of anything that happens on the ground. Nobody is asked to perform alone or singled out to demonstrate.
It is a genuinely welcoming room. People arrive at all levels of comfort and most spend the first class feeling self-conscious, which is completely normal and passes faster than you expect — usually somewhere around the point you realise everyone else is far too busy with their own choreography to be watching yours. The confidence people describe afterwards is the real reason this class exists.
Wear whatever you feel good moving in. Heels are welcome if you are comfortable in them and entirely optional if you are not — bare feet or trainers are just as common. Knee pads are worth having if you plan to take the floorwork. Bring water and, as advertised, bring your confidence; if it doesn’t show up on time, the class tends to find it for you.
